Study abroad at Anglo-American University
Anglo-American University (AAU) is a private international university in Prague, Czech Republic. It was founded in 1990 and is the oldest private university in the country. The university uses an American-style liberal arts system, where students learn through projects, teamwork, and practical experiences like internships.
AAU offers many programs for international students at both bachelor’s and master’s level. At the undergraduate level, students can choose from 28 programs in areas such as Business Administration, International Relations, International and European Legal Studies, Psychology, Journalism and Media Studies, Visual Art Studies, and Humanities, Society and Culture. Some programs also allow special tracks, for example, Business students can focus on Marketing, Data Analytics, or Leadership. At the graduate level, AAU offers three master’s degrees: International Relations and Diplomacy, International Business and Policy, and Liberal Studies. All programs are taught in English and are accredited in both the U.S. and the Czech Republic.
AAU’s campus is in the historic Thurn-Taxis Palace in Prague’s Malá Strana district. It has modern classrooms, seminar rooms, student spaces, and a cafe. The campus library holds thousands of books and journals, and has the largest English-language collection of any university in Prague. Just next to the campus is Vojanovy Sady, one of Prague’s oldest parks.

Life at Anglo-American University
AAU is a diverse campus, with students from over 80 countries. Student life is lively and multicultural.
There are over 30 student-run clubs and organizations, including academic clubs like Model United Nations, a 24-hour student radio station, and the Lennon Wall student magazine. The Student Council organizes social and cultural events. The university hosts more than 100 events each year, such as academic seminars, debates, film series, sports tournaments, and cultural festivals. Because of the many nationalities on campus, students often celebrate international holidays and share their cultures with each other.
New international students get special support. AAU has a Mentor Program where new students are paired with experienced student volunteers who help them settle in. The university also offers tutoring and writing help through the Academic Tutoring Center, and free counseling for any students needing support. The Career Center hosts workshops and job fairs to help find internships.
Students live in modern housing nearby and have campus facilities close by. AAU partners with Zeitraum Student Housing in Prague’s Holešovice district to offer residences about 20–25 minutes by bus from campus. The building is new and safe, with single or shared rooms and common kitchens. Holešovice is a popular area for students, with art galleries, cafés, and parks nearby. For meals and social time, AAU’s campus has the Café des Taxis (a student café) and study spaces. The library and study lounge are comfortable places to read or work on group projects.
