Studying criminal justice will give international students the ability to see the differences in policing between their home country and the United States. At the same time, it will hopefully give the student a better understanding of the entire United States Criminal Justice system.
Studying in the United States also gives international students the ability to compare and contrast various occupations in their home country and the United States provides many different academic majors in which the student can bring their education back to their respective home country.
You will gain an overview of the role of the criminal justice system in US society and will become familiar with law enforcement, corrections, criminal procedures, juvenile law and constitutional law.
In addition, you'll gain skills in communication, crime prevention, report writing and forensic science applications. This program will prepare you for a career in many of the criminal justice-related fields; however, a student would need to be a US Citizen to qualify to become a police officer or correctional officer in the USA.
