Black Hills State University (BSHU) is a liberal arts university located near the Black Hills in the US state of South Dakota, home to the Mount Rushmore National Memorial. The location of BHSU gives you the unique opportunity to explore the outdoors while studying for your degree.
The University is big enough to offer opportunities for students to pursue their goals but small enough that students get to know many of the staff, faculty, and students. A big draw is the University’s School of Business which is AACSB accredited.
The sports and fitness facilities on campus provide students with many opportunities to get involved in teams and activities, with BHSU’s Yellow Jackets playing in the NCAA Division II Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. 4,000 students attend the University with residence halls and apartments on campus to house 1,000 of them.
Internationally recognized accreditation for business and accounting programs
69% of teaching faculty hold a doctorate or other terminal degree
International students at BHSU come from more than 25 countries. The Office of International Relations and Global Engagement helps establish a global community at BHSU and organize orientation events for your first week on campus.
There are over 80 clubs and organizations you can join at BHSU, which can offer international students the chance to meet new and like-minded people. Cultural engagement excursions, involvement in intramural sports, and professional and personal development workshops are also available.
BHSU’s Scholarships of Distinction program will award merit scholarships of up to $4,000 per year to new qualifying students, while funds are available. Scholarships of Distinction are based on unweighted high school GPA, ACT/SAT scores, or a combination of the two. These scholarships are available to new first-time students who have not previously attended any other college or university. Official academic credentials will be used to determine award amounts.
