Lawrence is well known for its music scene, with many great venues and a history of producing many successful bands.
The popular Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival takes place just outside the city, and the nearby Clinton Lake and State Park is a popular location for numerous outdoor activities like swimming and hiking. Students can get around the city easily on foot, or by using one Lawrence’s two bus systems. For those that want to sample a big city atmosphere, Kansas City is less than an hour away by car.
