Life as an international student
USM has a strong international student population, with 420 students representing 72 countries. The University's International Student and Scholar Services offers airport pickup, as well as immigration and personal advice. They also provide opportunities for cultural outings and activities, and advice to international clubs and organizations.
USM encourages all its students to support the local community, and each year students contribute approximately 100,000 hours of volunteer service.
USM is a residential campus, offering on-campus housing options to both freshman and transfer students. However, they understand some international students prefer to live off campus, so USM does not have a Freshman on-campus housing requirement, meaning you will have the freedom to choose on-campus or off-campus options.
