Life as an international student

As an international student on the International Accelerator Program (IAP), you will receive specialized on-campus orientation and classes that are tailored to your academic level and English language skills.

You will get picked up from the airport by IAP staff, making your first day in the US as easy as possible. You’ll also receive help choosing the right classes, with dedicated advisors and language and academic assistance available throughout your time at UofSC.

All international students are encouraged to live on campus, as this is a great way to get the true American college experience. There are more than 400 student clubs you can join on campus, as well as loads of events including a back-to-school party, trip to the State House, and volunteering opportunities.

Academic Scholar - Distinction Award

  • In 2023, recipients of the Distinction Award had an average SAT score of 1365 (ACT score of 30) and an average high school GPA of 4.4 and were in the top 10% of their high school class, on average. Recipients of this award receive a significant tuition reduction of nearly half of the nonresident rate.
  • Amount: US$500 + tuition reduction

Academic Scholar - Merit Award

  • In 2023, recipients of the Merit Award had an average SAT score of 1300 (ACT score of 29) and an average high school GPA of 4.4 and were in the top 15% of their high school class, on average. Recipients of this award receive a significant tuition reduction.
