Athens is a small town located in the US state of West Virginia. It’s a college town that’s home to the campus of Concord University, giving it a healthy student population. It is thought it was named after Athens in Greece thanks to its status as a seat of learning. The town has a few shops and restaurants, and is situated in beautiful scenery and country.
The town is surrounded by the Appalachian forests, and is within easy reach of a number of adventures including skiing, white water rafting and off road biking trails. For those students that want to experience a big US city, Charlotte is less than 200 miles away. Charlotte also has an international airport from which you can visit other areas of the country and travel home.
