Why study in Alliance?

Alliance is a city in Ohio, US. The city has a rich industrial and railroad history, and is often referred to as the “Carnation City” in reference to the state’s flower, the scarlet carnation. Downtown Alliance has all the amenities you’d expect from a student city, as well as quirky shops and flea markets.

It’s easy for students to get away from city life with nearby reservoirs popular for fishing, botanical gardens, and nature reserves. Alliance bus station runs frequent transport across the USA, and Cleveland international airport is just over an hour’s drive away.

I am studying in Alliance, Ohio, which is middle of nowhere. It takes 10 minutes by car to go to supermarket. You cannot live without car. I do not have a car, however, a facility drive me to supermarket once every two weeks, so I can go. There is nothing around campus which means I feel safe. It’s quiet at night.

There is not a lot of night life happening in the Alliance area but we are close to Cleveland and other popping places like Canton or Akron so one can get there if they need to. There's a bus for public transportation to these areas and the place is pretty safe.

Alliance has all the brands one can need for shopping, clothes or groceries and as I had mentioned somewhere earlier, the people are warm and friendly. I have not felt in any way slighted or anything in that line since I came, it has been a year so far.

I consider this city a safe city because I usually walk without any problems. People are friendly and welcoming. There are no buses or trains since it’s a small city but the university offers transportation for drop off and pick up from the airport, which is good. Also, they offer trips to various places, which I consider another feature.
