Istanbul is a beautiful, huge and crowded metropolis with about 16 million citizens where different cultures meet. It is the city that connects the continents of Europe and Asia. There is the Bosphorus that separates the two continents. Around the Bosphorus there are many restaurants, bars, hotels, shops, shopping malls and historical buildings as well as palaces. There are three bridges to drive to the other continent. You can also cross the Bosphorus with the ferry or the underground. Like in every crowded city, also Istanbul is not that safe and the city has still problems with the traffic jam. However, using public transportations will save you time and money.
The university is on a calmy place in Sariyer. It is not in the city center, so there is much safer to live. If you want to enjoy the evening with friends you need to go to the city center to have a lot of fun.

Istanbul is really an AMAZING city! Transport links, facilities, shops, nightlife, everything. And not to forget the delicious dishes. The only drawback that you might face here is the language barrier if you do not speak Turkish, but generally locals are so helpful.

Sarıyer is one of the most amazing places in Istanbul, by the seaside. Koç campus is at the top of the mountain in Rumelifeneri. It is very safe in here and I never felt in danger. The views from campus and from Sariyer seaside are just amazing. And transportation to main touristic places in Istanbul is easy to reach, whether buses, minibuses, taxis and boats!. You have many shops, restaurants and supermarkets in the area.
