Computer Forensics degrees abroad
Computer forensics refers to the collection and analysis of electronic information for use in criminal investigations.
As a computer forensics student, you’ll learn how to gather, interpret, and preserve data from a range of electronic devices. As well as mastering forensic processes and procedures, you’ll study topics including information security and digital law.
Law enforcement teams across the globe often work together to convict criminals and solve cases. By studying abroad, you’ll develop the professional skills needed to liaise with colleagues across borders and work successfully in international environments.

Computer Forensics program structure
BSc computer forensics degrees traditionally take three years of full-time study, or four years if you take an industry sandwich year. Work placements let you apply what you’ve learned to the real world and are an unbeatable way to gain industry experience.
In the US, undergraduate degrees last four years. In line with the liberal arts educational model, you’ll take two years of general education classes before majoring in computer forensics.
If your bachelor’s degree has left you eager to learn more, you can further your education on a postgraduate program. MScs can be studied over one or two years, while a PhD usually takes between four and six years to finish.
You’ll learn through a variety of lectures, seminars, tutorials, computer labs, and practical workshops. A mixture of exams, coursework, presentations, and problem-solving activities will be used to assess your progress.
The exact content of your program will depend on the university you attend, but here’s an idea of the core modules you can expect to encounter:
- Computer forensics fundamentals
- Computer systems and networking
- Ethical hacking
- Computer programming
- Laws and governance in cybersecurity
- Forensic digital evidence
- Cryptography
- Computer systems security
