Analytics degrees abroad
Data is big business and has become a crucial part of our society. Governments, hospitals, businesses, and most other organizations rely on the collection and interpretation of data to make decisions, so it’s no surprise that analytics specialists are in huge demand all over the world.
As an analytics student, you’ll learn how to study, collect and analyze data in order to find patterns. You’ll also get the chance to develop expertise in a wide range of topics including mathematics, statistics and computer science.
Studying analytics and data science abroad is a great way to gain access to the very best programs available in countries like the UK, US, and Australia. You’ll be able to gain an international perspective on how data is collected and interpreted, giving you a unique

Analytics program structure
You can study analytics abroad at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You can earn a BSc in analytics over three or four years depending on where you study, and many universities offer joint-honors programs allowing you to study another subject at the same time.
If you study in the US, you can choose to study analytics as a major or minor subject. If you want to major in analytics, you will need to complete a set number of credits in modules related to the subject.
If you already have a bachelor’s degree in a related field, you can study an MSc in analytics. These programs often focus on a specific area of study, like business analytics or analytics for government. Some universities offer PhD programs in analytics, and these will involve three to six years of research.
Analytics is often offered by a university’s computing department, so it will involve time spent in computer labs as well as lectures and seminars. You’ll be assessed differently for each module you take, but you can expect written exams, coursework, reports, presentations, and research projects.
No two analytics programs will be precisely the same, and the program structure and content will vary with each university. However, some of the core areas of study are:
- Programming
- Computing concepts
- Introduction to big data
- Databases and data structures
- Statistics
- Business systems
- Analytics system technology
- Research methods
