William Paterson University (WPU), is a public institution located in Wayne, New Jersey, US. It is home to more than 10,000 students, and offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs through its five academic colleges: arts and communication, business, education, humanities and social sciences, and science and health.

Its 370-acre wooded campus is just 20 miles from New York City, and three miles from the historic Paterson Great Falls. The University offers a range of learning facilities with its classrooms, laboratories, studios, and throughout the campus, as well as at various off-campus locations.

The University has 13 intercollegiate sports and athletics teams that compete in NCAA Division III. They play basketball, soccer, softball, field hockey, golf, among others.

Life as an international student

William Paterson University is home to international students representing 33 countries. The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) is designed to support the whole of the University's international student population.

The office provides assistance to international students and visitors with visa applications, on-campus employment, scholarships and financial aid, and cultural and social opportunities. You’ll take part in orientation before the start of term, which is a great way to learn about campus life.

As an international student, you’re encouraged to get involved in activities outside of the classroom to help you integrate into the life at William Paterson. The University offers a wide range of social, cultural, and recreational activities including more than 115 student clubs and organizations.

The University has held tuition increases to 2 percent in each of the last three years to keep a William Paterson University education within your reach.

William Paterson maintains a generous merit scholarship program for incoming freshman and transfer applicants. Each year close to 2,000 scholarships are awarded totalling over $7 million.
