Study abroad at Lock Haven University

Lock Haven University (LHU) is located in Lock Haven on the west branch of the Susquehanna River in the scenic mountains of Pennsylvania, US. LHU's branch campus, Clearfield, is about an hour from Lock Haven and is situated in a small community with access to many outdoor activities in the area.

The University offers 49 undergraduate majors and certifications with 47 minors, as well as graduate programs in actuarial science, counseling, education, health science, and sport studies. Outside of the classroom, LHU has over 150 student clubs you can join, and most of their athletics teams compete in NCAA Division II.

Undergraduate students have the opportunity to live on campus for all four years at Lock Haven University. More than 1,700 students can live on campus in traditional residence halls, suite style halls, or apartment complexes.

Life as an international student

Each semester Lock Haven University's new international students are provided with a series of meetings, programs, workshops, and events that are designed to help you integrate into life at Lock Haven.

This extended orientation program is designed to help you experience what LHU and the surrounding community has to offer. The program combines workshops on special topics with social and cultural events designed to enrich your stay at LHU.

The Center for Global Engagement (CGE) offers an International Friendship Program (IFP), where you can be matched with LHU faculty and staff members who have volunteered to share American culture and traditions. These volunteers have the opportunity to learn about your culture and customs, and even some of your language.

    Lock Haven University is an affordable education, with exceptional faculty and staff to assist with your learning. We also offer numerous internship opportunities to further your career aspirations.

    We are located in central Pennsylvania, making us only a few hour drive from New York, N.Y., Washington D.C., Pittsburgh, PA, and Philadelphia, PA. Also, there are numerous outdoor recreation opportunities available from kayaking to hiking!

    Lock Haven University has Starbucks located directly on campus, along with a Recreation Center that has it's own rock climbing wall. We feature state of the art learning classrooms, and a brand new Science Center that features new high tech equipment. We also have access to a 24-hour section of the library.

    98% of recent Lock Haven graduates were employed or pursuing graduate school within 6 months of graduation.
