Study abroad at the University of Wyoming

The University of Wyoming (UW) is a public university that offers a world-class education in the small community of Laramie, Wyoming, US. Founded in 1886, it welcomes more than 14,000 students from 90 countries.

UW is made up of seven colleges covering agriculture and natural resources, arts and sciences, business, education, engineering and applied science, health sciences, and law. You can study everything from agronomy to zoology, criminal justice to theater and dance through 80 undergraduate and 90 graduate programs.

The University’s campus includes state-of-the-art facilities including a recently renovated library, sports pitches, gyms, labs, four residence halls and four apartment buildings. UW’s 17 sports teams compete in the NCAA Division I, and are known as the Cowboys and Cowgirls.

Life as an international student

International students are an important part of life at UW, with more than 706 overseas students representing 90 different countries currently studying at the university.

Their International Students and Scholars Office (ISS) will welcome and support you while you’re at WU. They provide a wide range of workshops and outreach services, and arrange the international student orientation which will help you get to grips with life at the University.

Campus accommodation is available to all international students, and the residence halls are within a five-minute walk of central campus. UW also offers 300 recognized student organizations, including the International Student Association, which includes groups for students from specific countries or regions of the world.

Fees and funding

Undergraduate tuition: Yearly estimate of tuition and fees - $17,750 Post graduate tuition: Yearly estimate of tuition and fees - $15,500

All scholarships are based on the student's academic achievements at the time of admission to UW.

The ISS office also awards over $60,000 in scholarships to eligible international students who are currently attending UW.

The Rocky Mountain Scholars Award

This provides up to $5,500 in annual scholarship support to new incoming international freshmen. Scholarship support is determined based on the student's cumulative high school GPA.
