Study abroad at Saint Michael's College

Saint Michael's College (SMC) is a selective Catholic college of approximately 2,000 students studying liberal arts and sciences on a scenic 440-acre campus, located minutes from Burlington, Vermont, USA. You can be skiing on the slopes in 30 minutes, in Montreal in two hours, and Boston in just over three.

Also known as St. Mike's, the College offers 36 majors, in fields such as Social Studies, Humanities, and professional areas like Business Administration. It also offers an Honours Program, and independent research and internship opportunities. Most students live on campus, and housing availability is guaranteed for all four years of study.

The College has 21 varsity athletics teams that compete in NCAA Division II, including basketball, cross country and soccer. You can get involved in one of the more than 40 student organizations, and there’s always the option of starting a new one up yourself.

Life as an international student

Each semester sees between 150-200 new international students enrolled in one of St Mike's programs. The Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS) can assist you with any immigration related questions you have, and are also there to help you settle in at SMC.

As a residential campus, St. Mike’s offers housing for international students that will help you integrate into the College community. You will live and work alongside domestic students, as well as share all campus facilities.

Their campus is a 24-hour living and learning community where students not only eat, sleep and study, but socialize, get involved, develop lifelong friendships and become better citizens. With more than a dozen residence halls and student apartments, there are plenty of housing options that you can choose from.

Fees and funding

Saint Michael's will do everything they can to help make your education investment affordable.

Over 90 percent of students receive financial aid. All admitted students are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships.

All international undergraduate students are eligible to receive scholarships awarded by Saint Michael's College. Students may not receive more than one category of scholarship, and if they are awarded more they will receive the scholarship with the greatest value.

International Student Scholarships

International undergraduate students are eligible to receive merit-based scholarships from Saint Michael's College. International Student Scholarships are valued between $2,000 and 60% of tuition. They are determined by assessing a students' potential for success.

The #TheYouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship

The #YouAreWelcomeHere scholarship recognizes international students who have a vision for enhancing intercultural understanding. Saint Michael's College will award between two and five renewable scholarships covering 52% tuition.

Book Awards

The recipients of Book Awards are nominated by their secondary school. Book awards are renewable four-year scholarships ranging from $13,000/year and full tuition. Ask your guidance couselor if your school participates in this program.

Scholarships for International Baccalaureate (IB) Students

IB Diploma holders will receive a renewable merit scholarship of $18,000/year or more depending on their score. Saint Michael's College offers a comprehensive admission policy for IB students. For students who do not complete the diploma, scores in IB courses of 4 or higher will have a positive impact on scholarship awards.

Pathway Completion Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded to pathway students who successfully complete the Academic English Program and transfer to an undergraduate program. Award amounts depend on performance in high school and at Saint Michael's College.
