The University of Southampton Malaysia (UoSM) is an overseas campus of the University of Southampton based in the suburb of Gelang Patah, Malaysia. It focuses on engineering degrees offering a foundation year in engineering and undergraduate programs in aeronautics and astronautics, electrical and electronic engineering, and mechanical engineering.

Students studying on one of UoSM’s four year engineering programs can study for two years in Malaysia, and two years in Southampton.

The campus of UoSM is part of the EduCity complex, which is home to several other international university campuses, meaning it has a diverse and vibrant student atmosphere. The complex offers student housing, world class sports facilities and modern, state-of-the-art laboratories and computing suites.

Fees and funding

The Malaysia Campus offers excellent value for money - your degree will cost less than obtaining the same degree in the UK, and you will also save on living and accommodation expenses during your first two years in Malaysia, compared to the UK.

All applicants to the University of Southampton Malaysia will be eligible for scholarships. These are based on academic excellence and achievement and are open to both Malaysian and international applicants. All scholarships are bond-free.

Foundation - US$7,728 / program Tuition Year 1 & 2 (Malaysia) - US$13,337 / year Tuition Year 3 & 4 (UK) - £16,256 / year

  • Top Achiever Scholarship - 100% tuition for Year 1. Students achieving a minimum of 4 A's in A levels (or 3 A's and 1 A) or equivalent

  • Exceptional Achiever Scholarship - 60% tuition for Year 1. Students achieving a minimum of 3 A*'s in A levels or equivalent.

  • High Achiever Scholarship - 25% tuition for Year 1. Students achieving 2 A*'s and 1 A in A levels or equivalent.

  • Transition Bursaries - 20% tuition for students who progress from Year 2 at Malaysia Campus to Years 3 and 4 at Southampton Campus.
