John Cabot University (JCU) is an independent, four year liberal arts university based in the Italian city of Rome. It offers undergraduate degrees, graduate degrees, and study abroad programs to international students from all over the world.

The University has three campuses located in the heart of Trastevere, Rome, with two residence halls and multiple off-campus apartments available for students to live in. At JCU you will learn in small classes and also have opportunities for internships at multinational companies.

The University offers a wide range of programs, and students studying art history, classical studies and history can study Rome's history and culture in their context, examining archaeological sites and invaluable artwork firsthand.

Life as an international student

John Cabot University has a strong international student population, representing more than 70 different nationalities. All incoming international students take part in an orientation week, which is designed to help you transition to life at John Cabot University and the city of Rome.

The University’s student life team provides a range of services and extracurricular programs, and is also available for any support and assistance you might need. They aim to ensure that you have the opportunity and support you need to engage in the life of the University and make the most of your time at JCU.

Fees and funding

The Office of Financial Aid is committed to making American degree programs in Rome as affordable as possible. Through the philanthropic support of donors the University are able create scholarships opportunities to help dedicated and deserving students pursue their degrees at JCU.

Fee information

  • Bachelor's program tuition: $27,000 per year
  • Master's program tuition: From $20,000 to $22,000 per program

Funding

All applicants to JCU’s graduate programs will be automatically considered for the following forms of financial assistance (a separate funding application is not required):

Full Presidential Graduate Tuition Grants

  • Assists selected students of limited means and/or extraordinary academic achievement 1-2 merit-based awards per year for each degree

Partial Graduate Tuition Grants

  • Assists selected students of limited means and/or extraordinary academic achievement

Applicants to JCU’s MA in Art History will be automatically considered for the following scholarship:

Regina A. Lee Scholarship

  • Assists selected students of limited means and/or extraordinary academic achievement

Applicants to JCU’s MA in International Affairs will be automatically considered for the following scholarship:
