Study abroad at Universitas Airlangga

Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is located in Surabaya, Indonesia, and is the second oldest university in the country. The University has 13 faculties and one postgraduate school covering a range of subject areas including law, economics and business, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, psychology and humanities.

Universitas Airlangga has three campuses located across Surabaya. The main Universitas Airlangga campus is in the city center, surrounded by several other universities, both public and private. The campus is close to a number of facilities, including sports centers, shops, hospitals and markets. Accommodation for students is located near to the campus.

UNAIR offers more than 30 student clubs and organizations focusing on athletics, academics, publications, performance, cultural awareness and special interests. The University also asks students take part in the Community Empowerment Service in rural areas that’s held twice a year during the semester break.

Life as an international student

The International Office and Partnership (IOP) provides several programs designed to help international students adapt to their new environment both academically and culturally.

The inbound mobility division can help you get to know Surabaya and the academic culture of Universitas Airlangga. The IOP also has a hospitality division that can help with administrative issues, and help you look for accommodation.

You can take a free course of Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing (BIPA), which is an introduction to the Indonesian language to help you integrate more easily into life at the University. There is also a buddy program, where international students are paired with local students to help them explore both the academic and local culture.

Dormitories are provided for students of Universitas Airlangga. There are two dormitories, one for men and one for women, and there are a lot of facilities, like a canteen, cafeteria, multi-utility hall and laundry.

Fees and funding

Universitas Airlangga offers various degree and non-degree programs to students. Furthermore, Universitas Airlangga provides partial scholarship for AMERTA program and degree program. There are different tuition and admission fees depending on the degree program taken by the students.

No scholarships at undergraduate level. Limited scholarships for postgraduate up to $2,400 only for high achievers.
