Tell us about studying business in Canada
I am currently in the Honours Bachelor of Commerce program with a major in marketing and a minor in finance. The first two years of the program, everyone takes the same courses from all of the majors offered which gives us exposure to the kind of material we would learn in that major. I think this is a great strategy as it helps students understand what they would like to learn more of in the future and they are not completely in the dark when they choose their major. The class sizes are relatively small which gives us an opportunity to interact with the professor either before or after class, and the professors are always willing to help understand the material if you are struggling with it. In the past, some of my professors have arranged for tutorial lectures because many students were struggling with a topic. The workload is quite reasonable with some majors having more work than others. The resources that are required for us to be successful in the course are often provided by the professors except for the textbook. They are very good about providing example questions or study guides during exam periods which help us in knowing which portion of the syllabus we should focus more on.
