Program Overview

What RMIT University says about their program:
"Extend your current experience, knowledge and skills in textile design to enhance global employment opportunities or establish your own practice.
In an increasingly competitive global market place design graduates need to have a culmination of skills, knowledge and an adaptability to respond to what the environment is telling them. Designers must have the ability to consider the bigger picture.

This one-year honours course is designed to support your individual emerging practice by:

extending your current experience, knowledge and skills to establish your own textile design practice
improving your prospects for securing paid employment within the sector
preparing you for further postgraduate study
The honours year offers you personalised mentorship and supervision that will see you develop a body of work relevant to research, or advanced practice in the discipline of textile design.

Through intensive studio research, work opportunities and projects you will complete a major design project or opt to complete a series of projects.

With individual supervision from leading academics in the field of textiles and fashion you will develop a project brief, plan a design project and deliver high quality outcomes.

While working on your major design projects you will also develop a body of work that extends your folio through your advanced studio practice course.

You will also have the opportunity to connect with an industry partner through a project or placement.

This honours year is designed for students who have successfully completed a three-year degree in textile design or equivalent design study, and who wish to undertake a further year of study to focus exclusively on an individual project."
