  • Received a secondary (high) school diploma or associate, baccalaureate or graduate degree from a college/university/institution in any of the following countries

    Anguilla, Antigua, Australia, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Caribbean and British West Indies, Canada (except Quebec), Cayman Islands, Dominica, England, Grenada, Guyana, India, Republic of Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya (if school language of instruction was English), Nigeria (if school language of instruction was English), Ghana (if school language of instruction was English), Liberia, Montserrat, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Scotland, South Africa, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, St. Kitts, The Bahamas, the United States and Wales.

  • Enters UWA with official documentation of successful full-program completion from a CEA (Commission on English Language Program Accreditation) accredited English Language School
  • Received a diploma or certificate of completion from a Council of International Schools listed high school in which it is determined that English was the primary language of instruction; however, we may require that you sit for UWA’s ESL Placement Test or enroll in ESL101.
  • Completed college-level Written English I and II at a US institution with a grade of “C” or better (Undergraduate only).
  • Undergraduate student transfers from a partner university and the results of the UWA ESL placement test show that the student can handle the complexity of junior and senior-level courses in English while taking, simultaneously, ESL courses (Undergraduate only).
  • Students who do not have the above requirements, but score high on the SAT/ACT reading and writing sections, may petition for a language proficiency score waiver (Undergraduate only).

Fees and funding

Tuition for UWA is lower than many other state universities in the state. They also offer a full range of grants, scholarships and loans to help you meet your education goals.

Funding

Undergraduate

Trustee Academic Awards Awards are made to incoming freshmen (or transfers with less than 24 credit hours) with a 21 or higher ACT/1060 or higher SAT or 3.0 GPA. Scholarships range from US$2,000 to US$12,000 per year and are renewable for up to four academic years with the maintenance of a minimum 3.0 GPA. On-campus residency is required for two years to maintain the full value of Trustee scholarships.

  • Tiger Achievement Award: 21-22 ACT / 1060- 1120 SAT or 3.00-3.24 GPA. US$2,000 per year
  • Counselor's Award: 23-24 ACT / 1130- 1190 SAT or 3.25-3.74 GPA. US$3,000 per year
  • Director's Award: 25-26 ACT / 1200- 1250 SAT or 3.75-4.0+ GPA. US$4,000 per year
  • Dean's Award: 27-28 ACT / 1260- 1320 SAT. US$5,000 per year
  • President's Award: 29-30 ACT / 1330- 1380 SAT. US$7,000 per year
  • Trustee Excellence Award: 31-32 ACT / 1390- 1440 SAT. US$10,000 per year
  • Trustee Superior Award: 33-36 ACT / 1450- 1600 SAT. US$12,000 per year

Trustee Valedictorian & Salutatorian

  • Amount: US$2,500 per year
  • Requirements: Available to on campus freshmen that have been recognized by their high school as one of the top two students in their graduating senior class. Students must meet unconditional admissions standards (19 or higher ACT/990 SAT). On-campus residency is required for the first two years at UWA for recipients. Must submit online UWA Scholarship Application as detailed above.
