Undergraduate

  • IELTS - minimum overall score of 6.0 with no sub-score below 5.5; or,
  • TOEFL - minimum overall score of 80 (internet-based test); or,
  • Pearson Test of English - minimum score of 50 (with a 'Communicative score' of not less than 42); or,
  • EAP - minimum final scores of 4,4,4,3; or,
  • C1 Advanced (Previously - Cambridge English

    Advanced (CAE)) or C2 Proficiency (Previously – Cambridge English

Graduate

  • IELTS - minimum overall score of 6.5 with no sub-score below 6.0; or,
  • TOEFL - minimum score of 90 for the internet-based test with a minimum of 20 in writing; or,
  • Pearson Test of English - minimum score of 58 (with a ‘Communicative’ score of not less than 50); or,
  • EAP - minimum final scores of 4,4,5,5; or,

Entry requirements

Undergraduate

  • Successful completion of your general secondary education and successful completion of one year of undergraduate degree study at a recognized tertiary institution (min. GPA may be required); or,
  • Successful completion of the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation Studies Program OR other recognized foundation programs; or,
  • Achievement of the International Baccalaureate Diploma (min. 24 points) OR equivalent internationally recognized high school qualification

Graduate

For entry into postgraduate study, you will need the equivalent of a bachelor’s (undergraduate) degree from a recognized institution with at least a B- average.

Wellington International Excellence Scholarship

The purpose of the Wellington International Excellence Scholarship is to recruit high-achieving undergraduate international students currently studying in New Zealand to Victoria University of Wellington and to support them in their studies. The majority of these scholarships will be awarded at $20,000 over three years of study.

Tongarewa Scholarship

The Tongarewa Scholarship ("the Scholarship") celebrates the University's commitment to our international student community. We award a range of these scholarships to international students each year. This is a partial fee-based scholarship that will be put towards your tuition fees for one year of study. Applicants can be either entering their first year of an undergraduate degree or entering a postgraduate degree program at Victoria University of Wellington.

New Zealand International Student Grant 2021

The purpose of the New Zealand International Student grant 2021 is to support new international students currently onshore in New Zealand to study at Victoria University of Wellington. This grant is available for all eligible students beginning their undergraduate or postgraduate studies in 2021.

Undergraduate students are eligible to receive a NZ$10,000 grant (equally disbursed over the first two years of study) and postgraduate students are eligible for a NZ$5,000 grant (for the first year of study).
