Admissions requirements

Please see below the admissions criteria required in order to apply to Texas State University.

Students from India, Nepal, Nigeria, Kenya, Cameroon, Ghana or Zimbabwe need to submit a TOEFL/IELTS.

Students who have attended at least two years of school in the US must provide SAT/ACT scores and meet regular freshman admission standards.

Students who do not meet the two-year requirement in the US must meet English language proficiency requirements. Students may take the SAT/ACT in place of English language testing, but will need to meet the regular freshman admission standards if they do.

For students who take both the SAT/ACT and English Language testing, the language testing will be used first to make an admission decision. Students who plan to participate in intercollegiate athletics are required to meet SAT score requirements for NCAA purposes.

Fees and funding

Texas State has very affordable tuition especially when partnered with their generous scholarships.

International students are encouraged to apply for academic scholarships at Texas State. Applicants must be currently enrolled or admitted to Texas State by the scholarship deadline in order to be considered.

Assured Scholarships are automatically awarded to all qualified international students who are admitted to Texas State as first-time incoming freshman and meet the minimum scholarship qualifications prior to their first fall or spring semester.

For undergraduate students who have taken an SAT, and receive a minimum competitive scholarship of $1,000, students will automatically get the in-state tuition which is $9,400 for the entire year and the scholarship.

For postgraduate programs, applying students who receive assistantships, or a partial competitive scholarship of $1,000 recieve in-state tuition and the scholarship. In-state tuition is $8,000 per year.
