Undergraduate academic requirements

  • Graduate of a BC secondary school or an equivalent school system OR completed 24+ credits of undergraduate-level credits with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0

  • IELTS: Overall band of 6.5 or higher, with a minimum 6.0 in each band
  • TOEFL iBT: 88 or higher, with no sub-score less than 20
  • PTE: 61 or higher
  • CAEL: 70 or higher with no sub-score less than 60
  • Duolingo: 110

High School Courses

  • Student comes from native English country
  • High School medium of instruction was English
  • Completion of BC English Studies 12, English First Peoples 12 or Literary Studies 12 with a minimum grade of C+ (or equivalents)
  • As part of the Adult Dogwood Diploma, completion of English Studies 12 with a minimum grade of C+
  • Completion of IB (International Baccalaureate) English A (HL or SL) with a minimum grade of 3 (or C+)
  • Completion of AP (Advanced Placement) English Language and Composition or AP English Literature and Composition with a minimum grade of 2 (or C+)

Undergraduate Courses

  • Completion of UG degree taught in English
  • University Proficiency test
  • Completion of 3 credits of undergraduate English (ENGL) with a minimum grade of C- from a recognized post-secondary institution where English is the primary language of instruction

Fees and funding

Funding

KPU Major Entrance Scholarships Students who applied for admission to KPU for the first time in the Spring or Fall semester are invited to apply for KPU Major entrance scholarships and donor-funded entrance awards. Entrance Award applicants will be short-listed and ranked by the Scholarships & Awards Selection Committee, based on the criteria of each award. Award payment is subject to admission and confirmation of enrolment (minimum 12 credits per semester) and final marks of eligible candidates, prior to the disbursement of the award. A minimum CGPA of 3.0 or greater is required for continuance purposes.

  • The President's Scholarship: CAD$20,000
  • The Merit Scholarship: CAD$5,000
  • The Indigenous Entrance Scholarship: CAD$5,000

Donor-funded Entrance Awards

  • Amount: from CAD$1,000 to CAD$3,000
  • Requirements: Only available for Fall. High school transcript including final Grade 11 marks and interim grades for English Studies 12 and all other academic Grade 12 courses, if available.
