      Program Overview

      What Southwestern Oregon Community College says about their program:
      "The Associate of Science Degree in Chemistry prepares students for transfer to a four-year school as juniors in either chemistry or biochemistry majors. The curriculum provides fundamental knowledge of the major fields of chemistry, covering a full year of both general and organic chemistry. Students will gain laboratory experience in organic synthesis, analytical methods, and spectroscopy.  Chemistry is called the central science and as such, it serves as a foundation for careers in many fields, such as medicine, environmental science, and materials science."

      Annual SWOCC Foundation Scholarships

      The Foundation awards more than 100 scholarships annually to students attending or planning to attend Southwestern, resulting in $100,000 + in scholarships to students. Applicants simply fill out one application online and are automatically applied to the scholarships they qualify for.

      Ongoing Southwestern Foundation Scholarships

      Scholarships and associated applications outside the annual Foundation Scholarship application process:

      • They are available for students to apply for all throughout the year
      • Prior to applying, we recommend speaking with a Southwestern advisor, faculty, or staff member to ensure you qualify
