Admission requirements

Postgraduate academic requirements

You’ll need (at least) an academic bachelor degree to be able to enrol in an initial master programme. You’ll need a master degree to be able to enrol in an advanced master programme.

English requirements

Candidates can prove their proficiency in English by submitting one of the language certificates below (obtained within the last two years; with the minimum score(s) mentioned):

  • TOEFL iBT: A minimum score of 80. (Taken at a test center, Home editions are not accepted)
  • ​IELTS Academic: A minimum score of at least 6.5, and on each part minimum 6.0
  • ITACE: Minimum level B
  • Cambridge English: Minimum B2 First with a score of at least 176

Always check the level required on the info pages of the program you are interested in because the required level or minimum scores could be higher than the ones listed above

English proficiency waivers

  • Students holding a degree issued by a recognized educational institution in Flanders, are exempt from the English language test. This exemption of the English language test also applies to holders of degrees issued by recognized educational institutions in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxemburg.
  • An exemption from providing a language test certificate is possible if you can prove that you have studied at least one academic year (= 60 ECTS credits) in an English-language Bachelor or Master programme. Please note that the board of admission may require that you obtained your credits or diploma in an English taught programme in Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States of America before you are exempted from providing a language test certificate.

Entry requirements

Students are exempted from submitting a GMAT /GRE test result if they have obtained their (business) economics degree at one of the following institutions:

  • A Belgian university;
  • A university ranked in the global top 400 in the most recent edition of THE or QS World Ranking;
  • One of FBE's exchange partners;
  • A university with an AACSB, EFMD or EQUIS accreditation

For the Business Engineering Master programs:

  • Applicants should include GMAT or GRE test results in their application (Unless exempted)
  • Applicants should have obtained an overall GMAT score of 650 or higher to be considered
  • Alternatively, students can submit a GRE with a minimum score of 160 on quantitative and verbal reasoning.

For the Business Economics Master programs:

  • Applicants should include GMAT or GRE test results in their application (Unless exempted)
  • Applicants should have obtained an overall GMAT score of 600 or higher to be considered
  • Alternatively, students can submit a GRE with a minimum score of 157 on quantitative and verbal reasoning.

Tuition Fee Reduction

  • Amount: €3,100
  • Requirements: The applicant must not have a master's degree; shouldn't have other scholarships; should have a clear and profound motivation and have a high standard of academic performance.

Daughters For Life-UAntwerp

The scholarships provide a unique opportunity to eligible candidates from the Middle East to study a Master programme at the University of Antwerp.

You can apply for the DFL scholarship if you are:

  • Female
  • A citizen and resident of one of the following countries in the Middle East (Palestine, Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq or Morocco)
  • In financial need
  • Committed to returning to your home country once studies are complete, to benefit your community

Master Mind

  • Amount: The scholarship includes a grant of € 9600 + a tuition fee waiver per academic year.
  • The applicant should have a high standard of academic performance and/or potential. This means:
  1. The student has a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 out of 4.0

  2. The student has a good knowledge of the English language, proven by one of the following situations:

  • an overall band score of minimum 7.0 on the IELTS test;
  • a minimum total score of 94 on a TOEFL test;
  • a C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference;
  • a similar result in another official language test recognised by the University of Antwerp;
  • or an exemption provided by the Master programme's Selection Committee during the screening process.
