Program Structure

  • Course structure

    Year 1 Gain a broad understanding of today’s business environment – from the context that organisations operate in through to trends in economic thinking and the importance of data in business. Modules will cover topics such as organisations and the business environment; economics and globalisation; managing data.

    Year 2 Focus on the inner workings of businesses. Use business techniques to solve problems and start developing the skills that employers look for. Modules cover key themes including creativity and innovation in business. At the end of the year, you can choose to embark on a ten-month business placement or a ten-week summer placement - applying what you’ve learned so far in the real world.

    Year 3 Develop and explore your business learning and focusing on contemporary tourism issues. Undertake an in-depth business research project in tourism management. You’ll also have a chance to set up a business on your own or with fellow students. Other topics to explore include: managing sustainability; organisational strategy; new trends in management; creating and hosting festivals and events; and strategic human resource management.

Undergraduate: IELTS 6.0 overall (no band below 5.5). Postgraduate: IELTS 6.5 or 7 depending on program.


IB Diploma at 26 points (minimum) 3 A levels at grades CCC-BCC Other international qualifications to an equivalent standard.

Undergraduate year 2 or 3 entry

You may be able to transfer credits and go onto year 2 or 3 of an undergraduate degree.


Normally a bachelor's degree with honors and a good passing grade from an internationally recognized university or higher education institution. Other international qualifications to an equivalent standard will also be considered.

Fall semester (September) - deadline August 1 Spring semester (January) - deadline November 30 (only for MA in Business and Management)

Commonwealth Shared Scholarship

The Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme is a joint initiative between the Department for International Development's Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) and UK universities. Its aim is to provide scholarships for high achieving students from developing Commonwealth countries who would not otherwise be able to study in the UK.

International Office Scholarship

Bath Spa University is pleased to be able to offer funding opportunities for high achieving students from outside the UK who are entering postgraduate studies with them.

International Outstanding Scholarships

International institution bachelor's degree holders who demonstrate high academic excellence by gaining the equivalent of a UK bachelor's degree with 60 out of 100 marks.

Royal Commonwealth Society Bath and District Scholarship

The Royal Commonwealth Society Bath and District is an educational charity working in Bath and the surrounding area, whose aim is to promote international understanding through the vehicle of the modern Commonwealth. This scholarship will support two students from an international commonwealth country to assist them in their studies at Bath Spa University.
