The program is centered on the rigorous knowledge of the basic functional areas of business, an appreciation of management challenges in a global context, and opportunities to develop students’ interpersonal and executive leadership skills.The Human Resources Management and Organizational Behavior Concentration is designed for students who want to master knowledge and skills in developing systems to for managing people to meet the strategic needs of organizations in both the public and private sector. Courses cover the interrelationships between organizational strategy, structure, policies, and practices with the motivation, satisfaction and creativity of employees. The concentration emphasizes global awareness, innovative practices, and ethical application. All courses in the HRM/OB Concentration will provide students with strategic, up-to-date knowledge from the fields of management, leadership, team building, organizational development, and human resources management. HRM/OB courses engage students through project-based exercises with the decisions and challenges facing today’s managers and HR professionals."

Postgraduate academic requirements

  • Have the equivalent of a minimum 2.5 GPA. Some graduate departments have higher GPA requirements.
  • Have the equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor's degree. If you were educated outside of the U.S., you must have earned a degree equivalent to a 4-year U.S. Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Postgraduate

English proficiency waivers

Undergraduate TOEFL or IELTS can be waived for applicants who meet English proficiency by coursework as follows:

  • Transferred from a U.S. college with 60 or more semester units with a minimum grade point average of 2.4, and have completed a transfer course in each of the following general education areas with a grade of 2.0 or better

    English composition, speech, critical thinking, and mathematics.

Postgraduate

  • TOEFL or IELTS can be waived for applicants who received a bachelor’s degree or higher from a U.S. college or university, or an international college or university OR demonstrated 3 years of full-time academic study at a post-secondary level in a country where the language of instruction was English as accepted by Cal State East Bay.

  • WES evaluations are required for students who have earned a 3-year degree (course-by-course)
