Undergraduate We recognise many other qualifications as equivalent to the New Zealand qualification for entrance. We also accept the following International qualifications:
International Baccalaureate: IB Diploma with a minimum of 24 points. GCE Advanced Levels: minimum grade of 8. Satisfactory completion of one year's study at an approved tertiary institution.
Postgraduate Entrance requirements for postgraduate study vary by programme with most requiring a minimum bachelor-level qualification in the same field, and some having additional requirements such as relevant work experience and/or professional registration in New Zealand.
A postgraduate certificate or postgraduate diploma can usually be taken at any time after the completion of your bachelor's degree.
If you hold an honours degree or postgraduate diploma you may be able to eligible for master’s study by thesis only. In some cases if you hold a bachelor’s degree you may apply for a coursework master’s degree or for master’s study by coursework and thesis.

Fees and funding
International Students studying at Otago pay international tuition fees. Many students will enrol for papers from a range of subject areas. Your actual tuition fee is calculated on the basis of fees for each paper that you include in your program.
The tuition fees do not include the student services and administration fees.
International applicants who have not studied Year 12 and 13 at a New Zealand school or an equivalent foundation level course at a New Zealand tertiary institution are only eligible for the New Frontiers Entrance Scholarship, and application is by invitation only through the International Office.
