Undergraduate You are exempt from the English Proficiency requirement if you have received a secondary school diploma from one of the following:

  • United States regionally accredited institution which you attended within the US
  • An institution with instruction conducted in English from Australia, Belize, English-speaking countries in the Caribbean, English-speaking provinces of Canada, Ghana, Ireland, New Zealand, Nigeria or the United Kingdom
  • SAT ERW score of 400
  • ACT English score of 21

Graduate You are exempt from the English Proficiency requirement if you have received a bachelor degree or higher from one of the following:

Merit Scholarships These scholarship ranges are one-year amounts that include eligibility for our textbook scholarship. Scholarships apply to full-time degree programs and are renewable for all four years, or eight semesters at UD. Scholarship ranges differ for partnership programs, like the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, or degree programs that are less than 8 semesters.

  • Father Chaminade Award: US$17,000 to US$19,000 per year
  • Dean's Merit Scholarship: US$21,000 to US$23,000 per year
  • President's Merit Scholarship: US$25,000 to US$27,000 per year
  • Trustees' Merit Scholarship: US$29,000 to US$31,000 per year
  • Requirements: Merit scholarships are awarded based on a variety of criteria including GPA, test scores (if submitted) and academic rigor.
