Massey University is a groundbreaking institution located in the picturesque city of Palmerston North, New Zealand. The University embraces diversity, talent, and performances, and aims to equip students with opportunities to develop intellectually, professionally, and personally.
As well as the main campus in Palmerston North, Massey also has major sites in Wellington and Auckland. It is also New Zealand’s largest provider of distance learning, with more than 13,000 students studying remotely.
Massey University offers a wide range of study options at a variety of levels including undergraduate and postgraduate certificates and diplomas, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees. Subjects are offered across five colleges: business; creative arts; health, humanities and social sciences; and science.
Outside of the classroom, there is loads on offer at Massey. There are nine student associations and more than 200 student clubs and groups you can join, with sports and recreation centers at each of the three campuses. You can look to represent Massey in a range of team sports including rugby, basketball, netball, and volleyball.

Life as an international student
Massey is one of New Zealand’s most diverse and international universities, with more than 5,000 international students from over 100 countries studying with them each year.
Each campus has its own International Student Support (ISS) team, who are on hand to help you with any issues you might face while you're at Massey University. Airport pick-up is available if you're staying on the Palmerston North or Auckland campuses, and you’ll take part in orientation soon after your arrival.
Accommodation is available to all international students, and you can choose from catered halls, shared apartments, and private studio units. Homestay options are also available where you will live with a local host family. This is a great way to immerse yourself in the local culture, develop your language skills, and meet new people.
The University also offers a range of international student clubs and societies you can join, giving you the chance to meet like-minded students.

Fees and funding
- Undergraduate tuition - NZ$27,330 - $92,080 per year
- Graduate tuition - NZ$31,010 - $51,000 per year
College of Humanities and Social Sciences International Excellence Scholarships
This scholarship is available to international students studying in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. It is valued at NZ$5,000 per year for up to NZ$20,000 for undergraduate programs, and NZ$10,000 for postgraduate programs.
New Zealand Scholarship for Pacific, Asian, African, Caribbean and Latin American countries
Funded by the New Zealand Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), a New Zealand Scholarship offers eligible candidates the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills through study that will assist in the development of their home countries.
Awardees are required to return to their home country for at least 2 years after the completion of their scholarship to apply these new skills and knowledge in government, civil society, or private business organizations. The scholarship covers full tuition and basic living expenses
Massey Business School International Student Study Awards
The aim of the Massey Business School, International Student Study Award (“the Award”) is to attract top-achieving new international students enrolling in full-time business programs on the Albany, Palmerston North (Manawatū) or Wellington campuses at Massey University.
The Awards may be awarded annually and will be to the value of $5,000 per 120 credits enrolled, for up to the total credit value of the program.
