Study abroad at Häme University of Applied Sciences

Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) is a forward-thinking institution based in southern Finland. The University equips students with the professional knowledge and skills needed to meet the demands of the global labor market.

HAMK’s seven campuses are dotted throughout the metropolitan area of Greater Helsinki. They combine to offer outstanding educational and recreational facilities, including research units, modern classrooms, and athletic venues.

The University offers 27 work-oriented bachelor’s degrees in areas like engineering, technology, and business. There are also 10 master’s programs to choose from, as well as professional teacher training courses. Programs are taught in English or Finnish by the University’s expert faculty.

You won’t be disappointed by what’s on offer outside of the classroom either. HAMK’s Student Union organizes loads of fun events throughout the academic year, including sports tournaments, café get-togethers, and trips to local tourist attractions.

Fees and funding

  • Undergraduate tuition

    €9,700 per year

HAMK grants scholarships based on Finnish language skills. The scholarship programme awards students who gain at least the basic skills of Finnish language during their degree studies at HAMK. The aim of HAMK’s scholarship programme is to support the future employment of international degree students in Finland by encouraging students to gain good level of Finnish language during their studies.

Scholarship 1: Basic User of Finnish language (CERF level-A2): €3,200

  • Paid once, the earliest after the first academic year
  • Bachelor´s degree students have the opportunity to gain level A2 by taking part in Finnish language studies offered by HAMK and studying independently. There is no Finnish instruction for Master’s degree students.
  • Language level assessment is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

    Learning, teaching, assessment (CEFR).

Scholarship 2: Independent User of Finnish language – (CERF level B1): €6,500

  • Paid once, the earliest after the first academic year. If the student is awarded with Scholarship 1, they can be awarded with Scholarship 2 after the second academic year, at the earliest. HAMK encourages students to aim to level B1 and will support and offer guidance on how to achieve the level needed. B1 is an advanced level requiring long-term commitment to studying Finnish.
  • Language level assessment is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
