Help people break free from the grip of substance abuse. In this rewarding career, you’ll work with a team of health and social services professionals to provide Substance Use Disorder Counseling services. Through classroom, laboratory and internship experience, you’ll develop skills in assessment, counseling, diagnosis, treatment planning, group facilitation, documentation and crisis management. You’ll also learn how to respect clients' rights, develop professional ethics and understand the complexity of substance use disorders. This degree prepares you for a variety of opportunities in licensed substance use disorder treatment facilities such as clinics, hospitals and community residential facilities, as well as correctional facilities, and various community and social service agencies.
