f your goal is to become a middle school or high school social studies teacher in the state of Indiana, the BS in Social Studies Education at Indiana Wesleyan University was designed for you. This major is designed to meet the certification standards of the Indiana Department of Education and the national accreditation requirements of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and is recognized by the National Council for the Social Sciences (NCSS). At our Christian university, you can learn how to apply biblical principles to your career as a social studies teacher, whether you choose to work in public or religious school settings.

Funding

Incoming Freshman receiving the President’s or Dean’s scholarship will have the opportunity to compete for an additional $2,000 annual scholarship. Eligible students will have more details sent directly to them from the Office of Admissions.

Recognition Scholarship

Achievement Scholarship

  • Average amount - $6,000
  • Requirements - Incoming IWU-Marion student meeting eligibility requirements 2.8 to 3.39 high school GPA

Faculty Scholarship

  • Average amount - $8,000
  • Requirements - Incoming IWU-Marion student meeting eligibility requirements 3.4 to 3.749 high school GPA

Dean's Scholarship

  • Average amount - $10,000
  • Requirements - Incoming IWU-Marion student meeting eligibility requirements are 3.75 to 3.99 high school GPA

President's Scholarship

  • Average amount - $11,000
  • Requirements - Incoming IWU-Marion student meeting eligibility requirements are 4.0+ high school GPA

National Hispanic Recognition Scholarship

  • Average amount - $15,000
  • Requirements - Selected as an outstanding Hispanic/Latino student in the National Hispanic Recognition Program with a high school GPA of 3.50+

National Merit Scholarship

  • Average amount - $16,000
  • Requirements - National Merit Finalist or Semi-finalist with a high school GPA of 3.50+
