The UNG music department offers a Bachelor of Music with a major in music and a concentration in instrumental music education. The unique appeal of the music education program lies in the supportive relationships formed within the UNG music department, which brings performers and educators together in a community of practice.

Admission requirements

Undergraduate academic requirements

  • 16 or older before the first day of class.
  • You must be a high school graduate.
  • If transferring from a U.S. institution, applicants should have a least a 2.0 transferable/overall GPA if seeking an associate’s degree, and at least a 2.25 transferable/overall GPA if seeking a bachelor’s degree.

Postgraduate academic requirements

  • For purposes of admissions, the overall grade point average listed on the degree-granting institutions transcript is what is used for graduate admission grade point average.
  • For entry-level DPT applicants, grade point average is calculated by PTCAS, the application submission process through which all entry-level physical therapy applicants to the University of North Georgia must apply.

  • Proof of degree at the secondary or collegiate level either outside or inside the U.S. where English is the official language of the academic instruction.
  • Proof of completion of the equivalent of English 1101 and /or 1102 with a grade of C or better in one or both courses, at an accredited U.S. institution.

Postgraduate

  • Student comes from English native country
  • An official evaluation by a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES) member indicating proof of a degree at the secondary or collegiate level either outside or inside the U.S. where English is the official language of academic instruction. If the NACES evaluation does not indicate English as the official language of academic instruction, request an official letter from the institution to be sent directly to UNG with this information, or direct this office to where it is stated on the institution's website.
  • Proof of completion of the equivalent of English 1101 and/or 1102 with a grade of C or better in one or both courses, at a regionally accredited U.S. institution.
  • Other approved exams and recommended standards as stated by the USG English Proficiency Requirements.

International Student Scholarship

  • Requirements

    After you have been academically admitted to UNG, you will receive information about the International Student Scholarship. The scholarship reduces UNG tuition and the approximate total of the award per semester is US$3,500
