The Bachelor of Media Arts prepares students for the changing demands of digital media industries by training technically skilled, creative, and collaborative artists, with an awareness of the history and ethical demands of the digital media field. Students gain professional communication, creative problem solving, and project management skills. Concentrations allow students to specialize based on their chosen career paths and creative passions.

Digital Performance: Investigating the intersection of live performance and virtual embodied experience, students focus on digital scenography, acting for digital media industries, or creating for immersive experiences, interactive performances, and mixed reality.

Admission requirements

Undergraduate academic requirements

You must complete upper secondary qualifications that are equivalent to Canadian Grade 12. This may include:

  • Form Six
  • Five O-levels plus at least two A-levels
  • GCE/General Certificate of Education or equivalent

Postgraduate academic requirements

  • 3.0 GPA on a four-year degree and 2-3 years of work experience (varies depending on the program).

English proficiency

  • IELTS

    6.5 or higher with a minimum band score of 6.0

  • TOEFL iBT

    88 or higher with no section below 20 (includes Home Edition)

    61 with 60 in writing

UFV does not accept IELTS Indicator results for admission purposes. UFV is accepting the Duolingo English Test (DET) until further notice.

English proficiency waivers

  • Student comes from a native English country
  • Successful completion of three consecutive full-time years of secondary school and/or post-secondary education taught in the English language in a country where English is the principal language
  • English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12. Students may also present English 12, English Literature 12, English 12 First Peoples, International Baccalaureate English A (standard level or higher level), Advanced Placement English, or equivalent.

    You are eligible for this scholarship if you apply to study at UFV and you are in your graduating year or have recently graduated. You do not need to apply for this scholarship. You are automatically considered when you apply to UFV if you meet the eligibility criteria.

International Regional Entrance Scholarship

International British Columbia High School Entrance Scholarship

    CAD$5,000

  • Requirements

    If you are an international high school student, you are eligible if you attend one of the following - a secondary school in B.C. or an offshore high school that has been inspected and certified by the B.C. government. You do not need to apply for this scholarship. You are automatically considered when you apply to UFV if you meet the eligibility criteria.
