Design is a key competitive tool in the marketplace. Form, design, and function often determine the choice of one product over another. As user demands increase, so does the need for skilled product designers, making you highly valued by future employers.

This programme is tailored for engineering graduates who want to add a design perspecitve to their technical skills and become industrial designers. If you are passionate about creating new products and improving existing ones, this is the programme for you.

Admission requirements

Undergraduate academic requirements

  • High School Diploma/Certificate (which entitles the student to university studies in his/her home country)
  • Transcripts of completed courses and grades (if issued separately from the Diploma/Certificate)

NOTE: Students in their final year of high school/upper secondary school, can only apply through our local JU admission and only if the following criteria are met: official semester grades for all high school years including the second-to-last semester of the final year can be submitted. The final official diploma/certificate and grades must be submitted before the induction week in August. Predicted grades are not accepted, with the exception for IB Diploma students who are allowed to submit predicted grades if semester grades are not available.

Graduate academic requirements

  • Bachelor's Diploma from a recognized university. Note

    If you have not yet received the diploma, but are in your final year, you may submit documentation from your university, certifying that you are an active student in your last semester. The document must be issued through and certified by a representative of the Academic Registrar's Office, the Examinations Office, or equivalent.

  • Thesis, independent work or equivalent from your bachelor’s degree (original language) only if the program you are applying to requires a thesis or equivalent.
  • We do not require a GMAT, GRE or CFA, but a good score may strengthen your application to some Master’s programs at Jönköping International Business School. You are welcome to send a certified copy of your test result with your application.

English waivers

  • Applicants with an upper secondary/ high school degree where English is the only language of instruction. Evidence must be provided showing the student's upper secondary tutoring language.
  • Upper secondary English instruction in some countries qualifies as equivalent to English 6/English B in Sweden.
  • Students with a formal university transcript or degree certificate for their Bachelor’s degree (equivalent to a Swedish kandidatexamen) where it is clearly stated that the language of instruction for the program was English meet the requirement.
  • Students with a Bachelor's degree (equivalent to a Swedish kandidatexamen) from a university where English is the only language of instruction meet the requirement. The university must be listed as only providing instruction in English in the edition of the International Handbook of Universities or the World Directory of Medical Schools that was current the year the degree was awarded.
  • Students with a completed 1-year degree at the master's level or higher from a university where English is the only language of instruction meet the requirement. The university must be listed as only providing instruction in English in the World Higher Education Database (WHED). The degree must have been completed within the last 10 years.
  • Students with a Bachelor's degree (equivalent to a Swedish kandidatexamen) where English is the main subject meet the English requirement.
  • Students with 60 higher education (HE) credits from an EU/EEA country or Switzerland where the language of instruction of the course is English. The language of instruction must be clearly stated on official documents.
  • Students with 60 higher education (HE) credits from Great Britain, Ireland, Malta, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, or English-speaking parts of Canada. The language of instruction needs to be English.
  • Students with a Bachelor's degree (equivalent to a Swedish "Kandidatexamen") in engineering, computer science, computer applications, medicine, pharmacy, science or technology (taught in English) from India or Pakistan.

Funding

JU Scholarship

  • Jönköping University offers scholarships on behalf of the Swedish government. The scholarships, intended for students who pay tuition fees, will cover a percentage of the fee for the duration of the program. The scholarship application is open from when the program application opens in October until 15 April.
  • The scholarship amount is equivalent to 30% of the tuition fee for the programme the student has been admitted to.
  • Be a citizen of a country which is required to pay tuition fees in Sweden.

Swedish Institute Scholarships

  • The Swedish Institute (SI) is a public agency that promotes interest and trust in Sweden around the world. SI works in the fields of culture, education, science and business to strengthen international relations and development.
