Concordia University of Edmonton offers an excellent 3-year Bachelor of Arts Degree in History.

This program will reveal to you the richness of past civilizations as you learn how people and societies have interacted with each other throughout history. We offer courses that cover African, American, Canadian and European history, as well as special topic courses related to the renaissance, totalitarianism, science and technology.

You will complete the 3-year general liberal arts degree to prepare for the job market or to move on to earn another degree or diploma in a related field such as business, education, government, journalism, or law. You could also successfully pursue graduate studies in history and other disciplines at various universities.

Undergraduate academic requirements

  • Graduation from a secondary high school program that would normally make you admissible to a university in your home country
  • Applicants in their final year of high school must normally present an admission average of at least 65%

Postgraduate academic requirements

  • A four year baccalaureate degree, a combination of a three year baccalaureate degree followed by a second baccalaureate requiring the former degree or its equivalent, or a graduate degree from a recognized institution. Individual graduate programs may recommend applicants as qualifying/probationary students (e.g., those with only threey ear degrees)
  • An admission grade point average (AGPA) of 3.0 (on Concordia University of Edmonton’s 4-point scale) or equivalent on the most recent 60 credits of undergraduate (or graduate) study
  • Individual graduate programs may impose additional admission requirements

English proficiency waivers

Undergraduate

  • Applicants who have studied for three (3) full years in Canada. The three years must include Alberta Grade 12 or equivalent and may be a combination of secondary and post-secondary education
  • Applicants who demonstrate that they have completed the equivalent of an Alberta Grade 12 education and that English was the principal language of their education at the secondary and/or post-secondary level
  • Applicants who have baccalaureate degree from a recognized college or university where English is the primary language of instruction and the principal language of the country
  • Successful completion of Concordia University of Edmonton‘s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program EAP Tier 1 and EAP Tier 2 or EAP Tier 2 with a minimum score of C or higher

Graduate

  • Applicants who have a baccalaureate degree from a recognized college or university where English is the primary language of instruction and the principal language of the country meet the English language requirement
  • Applicants who have a baccalaureate degree from a recognized college or university and are in the process of completing an additional degree at the same or next level and have earned a minimum of 15 credits where English is the primary language of instruction and the principal language of the country meet the English language requirement

Applicants should ensure they have adequate savings for tuition and fees, books and supplies, living costs, and for miscellaneous expenses, for the duration of their stay.

Funding

Undergraduate

  • University Entrance Scholarship Program The University Entrance Scholarship program provides guaranteed renewable scholarships to high school students who present a minimum award average of 75%. Scholarships vary in value according to the applicant’s award average. Automatic consideration is given to those who apply for Fall admission by April 1st; Winter admission by August 1st.

  • Concordia Bursary Program International undergraduate students may also apply for bursary assistance (based on financial need) once they are attending Concordia University of Edmonton. Although international students are expected to have the funds necessary to cover tuition fees, living expenses and transportation before coming to Canada to study, there may be circumstances that arise creating financial need.

  • CUE Scholarships Earning scholarships and awards is another way to help cover the cost of your education. Current international undergraduate students can apply for these awards every year they attend Concordia University of Edmonton. CUE Scholarships are provided by generous private donors and organizations. There are many different types of CUE Scholarships which range in value from CAD$350 to CAD$3,000.

Graduate

Graduate International students are eligible to apply for financial assistance through the Concordia Bursary Program. Additionally, there are program specific scholarships that you may be eligible to receive.
