As a student in one of our graduate programs, you’ll develop a deep and meaningful understanding of the disciplines of communication studies and public relations–the philosophies, the principles and how these apply to scholarly and professional practice. This is a thesis-based program. It will prepare you to become a highly educated communications professional or pursue further research as an exceptional scholar and academic.

Undergraduate academic requirements

  • In general, secondary school applicants have an average of 70% (5 best scoring academic subjects considered) during their final year of schooling.
  • Applicants looking to transfer from another post-secondary institution must demonstrate an overall GPA of 2.0. Refer to chart below for program specific requirements.

Postgraduate academic requirements

  • A 4 year bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field

Undergraduate Entrance Scholarships In order to be considered for an entrance scholarship you need to submit a complete application for admission to the University by March 1. High school graduates who have not attended a post-secondary institution and are within one year of graduation are also eligible for entrance scholarship consideration.

President’s Scholarship A limited number of the prestigious President’s Scholarship are offered each year to the top applicants. To qualify the student must have a high scholarship average, as well as demonstrate a contribution to their school and/or community. Applicants must submit a completed President’s Scholarship Application Form (PDF), an essay (see application form for details), reference letters (academic and extracurricular activity) and a résumé.

Mount Saint Vincent University Faculty Endowed Scholarship Established by the faculty of Mount Saint Vincent, awarded to a full-time student entering any program of studies at the Mount. This award exemplifies the faculty’s commitment to our students.

RBC Endowed Scholarship Established by RBC Financial Group in support of the University’s capital campaign, Building Tomorrow Together, this scholarship recognizes the Bank’s commitment to promoting and recognizing academic achievement, community service and leadership abilities. This scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time student entering any undergraduate degree program of study who has demonstrated strong academic achievement in her/his entering grades and leadership in student government, sports and/or their community.

Graduate Entrance Scholarships

International Graduate Student Scholarship The International Graduate Student Scholarship, established by Mount Saint Vincent University, is intended to support international students who are attending MSVU. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a full-time student in any master’s level program of study. This scholarship is awarded in September. Students entering at any of the three semesters are considered and an application is required.

BMO Financial Group Endowed Graduate Scholarship Established by BMO Financial Group in support of the University’s capital campaign, Building Tomorrow Together. This scholarship recognizes the Bank’s commitment to academic excellence and to its passion for learning. Awarded annually to full-time students entering a Master of Arts or Science program who have demonstrated academic achievement and qualities of leadership. This scholarship is awarded in September. Students entering at any of the three semesters are considered and an application is required.

Women and Gender Studies Graduate Scholarship This scholarship is awarded annually to a student accepted to the Master of Arts in Women & Gender Studies program. The award is made on the recommendation of the Graduate Women and Gender Studies Faculty. Students entering at any of the three semesters are considered and no application is required.
