Lane was a great starter school for me. It has all the facilities and amenities you’d like to see in a college. There is a gym, soccer field, health center, library, study spaces. Basically whatever a student needs to succeed, lane has them. It’s a bit far from town so you’d have to rely on personal transport or the bus, which is very reliable. The social life is hard because lane is a commuter school, which means a lot of people just come to take classes and leave campus. So there are not many opportunities to get to know more people.

Lane Community College international programs offered international students a variety of events that helped to keep us entertained and also get a feel of the city of Eugene. They often took us on trips to the coast, Mt. Hood, basketball games and even rafting during the summer. I personally enjoyed these trips because I would not have been able to go to all these places because I didn’t have a car. These trips helped me make friends with most of the international students and helped enhance our social life.

Public transportation was well provided and has numerous transit times. The student apartment from LaneCC is located right at the heart of downtown Eugene, where Eugene Station is just across, making it so easy to go to other places by bus. The International Program at LaneCC hosts a lot of events that encourages social activities and cultural exchanges. As an international student, I don’t feel homesick at all, as they always make sure to invite and get engaged with the new students.

Since I entered Lane Community College, I have lived in dorm. The dorm is very clean and has lots of amenities. I live with three roommates and they all are very good friends with me. Even though almost all classes I have taken is on online because of Covid-19, I could make a lot of friends from the dorm from other countries, and practice English. Near the dorm, there is a main bus station of Eugene, our city. To go to campus, we can take a bus from the station. LCC provides bus pass for students, so they can also get every bus to go a lot of places in the city. Therefore, LCC offers academic tutoring service with no additional fee, so when I struggle with the classes and assignments, I always talk with tutors and they help me all the time to solve my problem. Also, as I am an international student, International advisers always support me. They reply my question quickly and organize a lot of fun activities.
